Penny's Baby Shower!

You can find all of the pictures of our latest Baby Shower at this link on Moon Rise Photography,

A coveted recipe for Champagne Cupcakes was the base for these celebratory treats, but you could use your favorite or even a box mix - just be sure to tint the icing baby girl pink and pipe it on in giant swirls!  We dusted ours with edible copper sparkle dust .... and then we grabbed the can of Krylon Copper Paint.

No - we didn't paint the cupcakes!  We put them aside and headed outside with our small plastic baby carriages.  They started life as hot pink, but we thought they would look much more sophisticated in copper. Our painter used a small stick to hang them by their tiny handles and only needed to twist and turn it a bit to paint them all them top to bottom.   The copper cupcake crowns around our goodies were purchased at an after-Halloween sale for "pennies" and were bright orange.  We used the same paint and were thrilled when one coat covered just fine.  If you choose to paint, be sure and give everything plenty of time to completely dry before using any item as a decoration on food.

The final touch?  A bright, new, shiny penny positioned just so in the baby carriage - perfect to welcome Baby Penny!!

This lovely vase looked beautiful on the penny sprinkled table.  No one would guess that it was bright, bright - did I mention BRIGHT? - purple the day before.  Copper spray paint to the rescue!

We were very lucky to find this cake stand for a 50% discount at Hobby Lobby - however it was only available in cream.  After a quick coat of Krylon Copper Spray Paint, it was just right for the theme of the shower.  Just right - but we wanted perfection, so had to add a few pennies!  We gave a roll of fifty and a box of Zots to a hubby watching TV - something to do with "March Madness"-  and before long the project was complete.  Our Mommy-to-be is crazy for macaroons, so her sweet sister-in-law made a special trip to Trader Joes to buy every box in stock - yummy!
